What if The NewsHour wasn't here for you every weeknight and what if all the great programs you enjoy on New Hampshire Public Television weren't here? We ask "what if" because without your support we would not be able to bring you the quality programs you count on. With your help, NHPTV can meet its end of year goal and wrap up its fiscal year with a balanced budget. That's one of the reasons why Sarah Varney and I are here right now. Hello, I’m Ed Brouder and we’re taking just a few minutes to ask you to invest in the one place that brings you quality programs you can't find anywhere else on television. With the PBS Newshour, Frontline, Washington Week and more, you're getting balanced, in-depth reporting that is always surprising and illuminating But it comes at a price. NHPTV can't continue to bring you the on-air, online and community programs you and your neighbors depend on without your support. Many of you watching right now already contribute to NHPTV. THANK YOU if you've recently sent in your renewal or additional gift. Maybe you've let your membership lapse because there are just so many demands on your time and budget. If you’re looking for a more convenient way to remember NHPTV in your philanthropic plans, please consider becoming a sustaining member. Sustainer gifts are budget friendly, manageable and convenient. It means setting aside a certain amount of money every month – 10, 20 or even 50 dollars and having that money automatically deducted from an account of your choice. It saves you time and reduces money spent on mail and postage. And it’s the single most reliable way to support NHPTV. So please, call the number on your screen or go online and make a pledge of support. And when you contribute before the end of NHPTV’s fiscal year on June 30th, you’ll help our producers plan for the next 365 days of extraordinary news, documentary and cultural programming. And on that note, here’s some really great news from Rick Steves. As Rick said—any donation before June 30 will automatically enter you to win that trip for two. As a mom of a 5-year old boy, I trust PBS to provide my family with engaging programs that teach us something new every time we turn on the TV. Whether we're watching NHPTV Prime, NHPTV Explore, World or Create, they all have something we can't find anywhere else. And there are no commercials. That is so important to me. The kids science, literacy and math programs are as entertaining as they are educational. I’ve even learned a lot! But NHPTV is a resource for more than just quality television. At nhptv-dot-org you’ll find videos, links and activities for your kids and grandchildren that are fun AND amazing-- and very convenient if you're not in your living room! So, if you have engaged with NHPTV online, or have been inspired by a documentary or informed by one of our many public affairs offerings, now is the perfect time to vote for your favorite programs with your pledge of support. Just call the number on your screen or go online and tell us you want to keep the PBS NewsHour and your favorite programs coming on New Hampshire Public Television. Without a doubt, NHPTV’s most important partner is YOU! The station’s been through a lot of changes this past year. And the good work continues. In 2012, NHPTV became a community licensee. No longer affiliated with the University nor supported by the state of New Hampshire, NHPTV has found ways to bring down costs and operate more efficiently. All of this is designed so you can continue to enjoy all of the PBS programs you want when you want, wherever you want. So why not give 5, 10 and even 25-dollars a month and become a member of the NHPTV Sustainer Program. The sustainer program is simple, flexible and very manageable. Small monthly donations add up and truly make a difference. It’s also the most reliable source of income for the public television station you trust to bring you news, public affairs, world class drama, outdoor, adventure and educational children's programming. By doing your part to support New Hampshire Public Television, you are also supporting the quality of life right here in the Granite State. That's because people from every walk of life will continue to be inspired, educated and enriched by what they see on-air, explore online or experience at our many community events. We’re counting down to the end of our fiscal year and counting on you for your support. Thank you! |

Hello Everybody. I’m Sarah Varney. Thank you for tuning in today for the PBS NewsHour. If you’re like many of our viewers, you rely on NHPTV and the PBS NewsHour for balanced reporting, civil discourse and analysis. Public television programs like the PBS NewsHour and Frontline keep us informed and help separate the truth from fiction in an expansive and complex media world. Without support from viewers like YOU, these programs cannot continue to provide the level of quality journalism you have come to trust from NHPTV. Please do your part today –call the number on your screen or go online and make a pledge of support. It’s important to stay informed and connected. And when you tune in to watch your favorite News and Public Affairs programs on NHPTV, you know you can trust the journalists who work hard to bring you honest, fair and balanced reporting. That’s not hyperbole. That’s fact. There really is no where else but public media to find news and not noise. And we will never tell you what to think. We will however, challenge you to think outside of your own comfort zone. And for many news junkies out there, that’s the most important reason for watching programs like the PBS NewsHour, Washington Week, Bill Moyers and Charlie Rose. Call the number on your screen or go online now and contribute. This is a critical time for NHPTV. We’re community licensed now and that means more dependence on Community Support. And the timing couldn’t be more crucial as we head into the end of our fiscal year on June 30th. When you make that all important call right now, your donation will go directly toward balancing the budget and helping our producers plan for the next 365 days of outstanding news and documentary programming. You’ll see us on the air a lot this month, working to enlist new members in support of NHPTV. If you already contribute to the station, thank you! When you tune into the NewsHour each weeknight, you know you’ll find honest, independent news and analysis from journalists with integrity like Judy Woodruff, Ray Suarez and Gwen Ifill. Whether the discussion is about issues half a world away ---or events right here in New England, the NewsHour provides journalism that you can trust. And right now, public television needs to rely on YOU. Please, step up and do your part now as we count down to the end of our fiscal year on June 30th. We only ask you for your support when it’s really needed. That time is right now as we head toward the end of June. Call the number on your screen or go online and make a pledge of support to keep programs like the PBS NewsHour on the air AND online all year long. Independent journalism that relies on fact, not opinion is truly priceless. So please, do your part right now. 2012 was a big year of transition for NHPTV and You. The station stretched every dollar as far as it would go and partnered with our PBS neighbor to the south to bring you an expanded program lineup that is offering you more of your PBS favorites than ever before. Whether you’re watching NHPTV Prime, NHPTV Explore, World or Create, NHPTV is your New Hampshire PBS station. Community Support makes up 75% of NHPTV’s annual revenue. And every donation counts toward balancing the budget. In fact, if every viewer of NHPTV donated 1-dollar a month, we'd reach our goal. But we know that isn't possible. The child who participates in the PBS Kids Go Write Contest every year cannot make a contribution on their own. He or she needs you to do it for them. And many young families who count on new programs that give kids a head start on learning – programs like the new Peg –PLUS-Cat—well, these families simply can't afford to donate right now. That’s why your support right now is so important. When you make a donation in any amount, you are supporting independent public media for everyone in New Hampshire. If you’re concerned about finances of your own, but you still want to help, consider becoming a sustaining member of NHPTV. The sustainer program is a simple, flexible and sensible way to support the public television station you trust to bring you news, public affairs, world class drama and educational children's shows. Here’s one New Hampshire Resident who agrees. Community licensed and community supported. That’s a recipe for a strong partnership. You can enjoy NHPTV and PBS Programs Anytime, Anywhere –online, on-air and in your community. That’s our promise. Thank you. |
